Phi Beta Kappa Inductees

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice is proud to have 14 Phi Beta Kappa inductees in 2024-2025!

• Fall 2024 inductees included Josie Michelle Allen, William Joseph Fluhr, Sydney Jordyn North, Makayla Anne-Marie Partin, Audrey Beth Vonderahe, and Ryan Michael Yauger.
• Spring 2025 inductees included Teal Fehrenbacher, Gene Gerardot, Anna Gerth, Trinity E Rhinesmith, Hayden D. Sawyer, and Shamaria Thomas.

Congratulations to the 124 undergraduate students who earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University in Winter 2024 and Spring/Summer 2025! Additionally, 54 graduates earned minors in Criminal Justice and two graduates earned the certificate. It has been our pleasure to support these students during their time at IU. Soon, students will earn Criminology and Criminal Justice degrees! Go Hoosiers!

We celebrated our newest graduates at the May 9^th department Graduate Celebration and Awards Ceremony. The 2025 graduating class includes:

• Phi Beta Kappa members: Teal Fehrenbacher, Laurie Frederickson, Anna Gerth, Makayla Partin, Trinity Rhinesmith, Hayden Sawyer, Shamaria Thomas, and Ryan Yauger. Phi Beta Kappa honor society is considered the highest honor an undergraduate can achieve in the Liberal Arts and Sciences.
• Alpha Phi Sigma members: Ashton Baumgartner, Tatum Boswell, Megan Brady, Yuxuan Hou, Maggie Lowe, Rian Marcus, Sarah Mellinger, Madisyn Schackhow, Dylan Stoltz. Alpha Phi Sigma is the national criminal justice honor society. Eligibility is based on academic success in criminal justice and undergraduate work.
• Senior award winners:
  • Raegan Rhodehamel, Distinguished Hoosier Award. This award is given by the advisors to a senior who demonstrates academic excellence, self-reliance, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.
  • Tal Dachut, Writing Excellence Award. This award recognizes outstanding written work in criminology and criminal justice courses.
  • Shamaria Thomas, Bill Selke Heart of Justice Award. This award recognizes outstanding effort in service and leadership to a senior who strives to better local, national, or international communities.
  • Laurie Fredrickson, Outstanding Senior Award. This recipient is chosen by the faculty for outstanding academic work in the Department of Criminology Criminal Justice.
