Courses designed to give you expertise + experience

Our introductory courses provide historical background about the structure, function, and operation of the criminal justice system in the United States. Introductory topics courses explore specific issues in depth.

As you advance in the field, you study theories of crime, deviance, and social control, considering the ways that individuals and groups violate social norms and respond to deviant behavior.

Our service learning experience gives you a chance to work with community groups related to criminal justice issues. Internships, seminars, and honors options are available, too.

In courses that prepare you for more advanced study, you learn about research methodology, design, and presentation, as well as the nature of scientific inquiry. You can also study techniques of data analysis.
