Welcome to the recap of the 2023-2024 academic year in the Department of Criminal Justice!
On April 8, 2024, Indiana University witnessed a once in a lifetime event—a total eclipse. Bloomington was at the center of the Path of Totality as it passed through Indiana. Several events were scheduled around the campus to engage the students and community including a special springtime Science Fest and the Hoosier Cosmic Celebration at the IU Memorial Stadium.
The community was treated to a 75-degree day and clear skies—not common weather for Indiana in April but great for viewing a once in a lifetime total eclipse! For approximately four minutes and three seconds, the moon completely covered the sun, although the full transition lasted for almost 3 hours.
To commemorate the event for our Criminal Justice students, the department passed out stickers prior to the eclipse day. If you are interested in a sticker and future communications from the department, send an email to crimjust@iu.edu and include your name, address, and connection to the department. We will get one in the mail to you!
We love to hear from our alumni – stay in touch!
