The Department of Criminal Justice celebrates the life and mourns the passing of Tim Morrison on January 6, 2023. Tim was a graduate of Indiana University with a B.A. in Political Science in 1971 and a J.D. from the Maurer School of Law in 1974.
Tim began his service with the Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney's Office as Chief Deputy Prosecutor from 1975-1981 and then became a Supervising Attorney in the Marion County Prosecutor's Office. In 1988, Tim moved to federal prosecution and was appointed First Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. During this span, he served three times as the Interim United States Attorney (the period between Presidential appointees). He worked in the U.S. Department of Justice for 23 years, until his retirement in 2011.
In the fall of 2011, Tim joined the Department of Criminal Justice as an Adjunct Lecturer teaching Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure. He went on to teach classes with the Maurer School of Law and served on the Indiana University Auditorium Advisory Board. Tim received the State of Indiana Sagamore of the Wabash Award in December 2021.
