Emily Sargent - Public Policy Expert
Emily Sargent (B.A. ’14, Criminal Justice) is a senior policy analyst at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and an expert in emergency management and public health law and policy. Sargent originally joined the CDC as an operations manager for the COVID-19 pandemic response after working in emergency management at the Indiana Department of Health. She specializes in creating enterprise-wide systems to turn scientific data into actionable and equitable government policies. Sargent has led initiatives to increase the United States’ capacity to respond to public health emergencies and worked with partners around the country to fund and implement local health programs. In addition to her degree from the College, Sargent earned a J.D. in health law from IU Indianapolis’ McKinney School of Law and an M.P.H. in health and policy management from its Fairbanks School of Public Health.

Rebecca Pany - Senior Vice President
Rebecca Pany (B.A. ’12, Political Science, Criminal Justice) is the senior vice president of sport administration at the Big Ten Conference, where she is responsible for oversight of 26 of the 28 conference-sponsored sports and all-conference events. Pany serves all 18 institutions as a key liaison to campus administrators and provides strategic support through this collaboration. Prior to her service at the Big Ten Conference, Pany served in the IU Athletics Department from 2012-2023. She completed her degree in the IU College of Arts and Sciences while competing as a field hockey student-athlete.
